X-ray view boxes (negatoscopes): Negatoscope is a device designed to view the dry and wet black & white radiography images (X-rays, tomograms, etc.) for the medical and engineering purposes. This device features a luminous screen, to which a radiography image is applied. The screen brightness is high enough to X-ray the images with high absorbance.
Negatoscopes can be places either on the desk or on the wall. The key negatoscope elements include a metal or plastic housing, fluorescent lamps, a viewing screen (mostly made of the milk-white Plexiglass), start-control devices, and fastening fittings.
Negatoscopes differ in size, light intensity, color temperature, availability of light intensity adjustment and shutters for aperturing fluorescent surfaces.
The most advanced negatoscopes are manufactured using the LED technology based on the techniques of edge lighting and light-conducting array. Such structures are called light panels
